Dispensing Nurse at Opioid Treatment Program

Description

The Supervising RN shall be responsible for maintaining an adequate level of nursing for the programs dispensing and medical operations under the supervision of the medical director. Nursing Staff are Responsible for performing the following key roles, with LPNS responsible for tasks within their scope of practice and under the supervision of an RN. When the supervising RN, physician, NP or PA is not on site, an on-call RN, physician, NP or PA shall be continuously available to the LPN whenever providing patient care. Continuous availability means the ability to be available by phone immediately and physically arrive within one hour and be present on site in a timely manner as much as needed to address patient assessment and care needs.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.)
  • conduct a nursing evaluation upon admission in accordance with their scope of work (RN Only);
  • Monitor the NCPMP/CSRS, when delegated by physician;
  • provide ongoing nursing assessment, planning, and evaluation on patients according to their scope of work (RN only);
  • Prepare and supply medication to patients, maintaining medication inventory records and logs in compliance with federal and state regulations;
  • Provide documentation in the Patients service record of all nursing activities performed related to Patient care
  • ensures medical orders are being followed and performed;
  • provide psychoeducation on HIV/AIDS, TB, Hepatitis, Pregnancy, and other health education services;
  • coordinate medical treatment and referral for biomedical problems;
  • perform auxiliary testing based on medical orders;
  • consult with the medical director, program physician, PA, or NP for guidance in medical matters concerning the wellbeing of patients; and
  • participate in staff meetings and treatment team meetings.
  • Takes blood pressure, pulse ox, respiratory rate, and pulse as needed
  • Acts as a liaison for drug and equipment representatives and various state agencies as needed.*
  • Prepares and administers medication to clients maintaining medication inventory records and logs in compliance with federal and state regulations.*
  • Provides random, supervised urine specimens for drug screen testing at the request of the program director or medical provider as needed.*
  • Pregnancy tests and mouth swabs- Reads and documents.
  • Inventories medication stock.*
  • Orders medication as directed by the medical director.*
  • Maintains adequate security over medication stock.*
  • Maintains medication inventory records and logs in compliance with federal and state regulations and the program protocol.*
  • Receives medication shipments.*
  • Prints and files client dosing reports and inventory reports.*
  • Administers tuberculin skin screenings*
  • coordination medical treatment by providing information to clients about other services, such as hospitals and inpatient treatment facilities;
  • Administers the exposure control plan.*
  • CSRS/NCPMP at minimum quarterly
  • Maintains accurate inventory including DEA 222 form maintenance.*
  • Responsible for attendance and punctuality at work.*
  • Responsible for a professional demeanor.*
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, NC Controlled Substance Reporting System, and Methasoft software.
Education/Experience:
Associate's degree (A.A./A.S.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. OR
Masters in nursing/Registered nursing degree; and one year related experience and/or Training.
Supervising Registered nurse(RN) shall have at a minimum of one year of experience working with adults with a substance use disorder. The supervising RN shall hold an active license as a RN and be in good standing with the NCBON.

$25 - $28 per hour
